Crazy Peak LLC is an early technology business investment and advisory firm.
Philip Brittan is the General Partner of Crazy Peak LLC. Philip has been a technology and business leader, primarily in the FinTech industry, for almost 30 years, with a degree in Computer Science from Harvard and a mix of entrepreneurial and large company experience. Philip spent the first half of his career as a serial entrepreneur CEO, founding and running three start-ups. The first start-up offered a software product, Fenics, for pricing and risk analytics of Foreign Exchange Options. That company was sold in 1996 and Philip went on to found his second start-up, Spheresoft, which developed software applications and products for financial institutions and FinTech vendors. Philip’s third start-up, Droplets, was a pioneer in the Rich Internet Applications segment, and holds patents on a number of foundational features of the interactive Web, which it licenses to many brand-name technology firms.
The second half of Philip’s career was spent in larger firms. At Bloomberg, Philip ran the Foreign Exchange business, which took Bloomberg from being a new entrant in the FX market to being market leader in that segment. Philip then joined Google, where he oversaw Google Finance and also managed a portion of the Google Local (business search) offering. Philip joined Thomson Reuters in 2011 to turn around their flagship financial desktop, Eikon, which he did and then went on to unite a fragmented software development and operations effort at Thomson Reuters, becoming the Chief Technology Officer and Global Head of Platform of the Financial and Risk division, managing a globally-distributed team of over 6,000 product and technology professionals.
Philip makes angel investments in and advises early stage firms through Crazy Peak, and is an advisor for private equity firm The Carlyle Group. He sits on the International Advisory Board of the College of Administrative Sciences and Economics (CASE) of Koc University in Istanbul, Turkey. He is a member of the Global Association of Risk Professionals (and is an accredited Financial Risk Manager) and of PathNorth, and a former member of the Young Entrepreneurs Organization. Philip grew up on a ranch in Montana and now lives in the suburbs of New York City. He enjoys outdoor sports and composing music.
